ISG technology successfully completed the first phase of the ambitious project for Ford Motor Company (UK). In partnership with Siemens Enterprise Networks, ISG technology is providing infrastructure upgrades to Ford’s key manufacturing sites, stores and office buildings throughout the UK.

The first phase of the project was completed on 12th July 2010 and included an upgrade of the core and edge networking hardware and associated infrastructure in preparation for a future IP telephony roll-out. Chosen due to its professionalism in both networking and infrastructure, ISG technology is responsible for the installation of new data cabinets, a complete single mode fibre optic backbone, wireless access points and all associated cable containment accessories in the Daventry office of Ford.

The building in Daventry is the largest single–storey, single–roofed building in Europe with a footprint in excess of 180,000 m2. The impressive building installation required 30,000 m of fibre optic cable and 1,500 m of cable containment. The engineering team was working at a height of 10m off the ground from access platforms. “This is a good example of an IT project delivered spot on time and budget,“ said Raymond Damerow, Director of Parts Supply and Logistics FCSD-E.

The second phase of the challenging project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2010 and in Ford’s main office building in Warley.  “The installation at Daventry was always going to be a challenging one, but Lee Fitzpatrick and the team have risen to the challenge to complete Phase 1 on time and to budget and I am very confident that Phase 2 will be completed in the same manner,” said Jerry Buckton, Head of Infrastructure Sales for ISG technology.
