To improve communications across its estate, the University of Reading installed a new telephone system across the campus and halls of residence. Working with the chosen communications partner, Ericsson, ISG technology installed over 4,000 data outlets, 20,000 metres of copper multicore cable, 17,000 metres of fibre optic cable and 5,000 metres of trenchwork meeting the University's tight timescales.

The University decided to upgrade its voice and data network but with just 12 weeks in which to install 6,500 telephone terminals, the roll-out required detailed planning and skilled project management. Time constraints were further exaggerated by a clash with the World Disability Games which were being held in the city. ISG technology successfully completed the deployment within the required timescale and without significant impact on the University's activities.
