MEMS Power Generation
MEMS Power Generation specialises in the sales, service and hire of generators and associated equipment.
Its services are frequently called upon in times of emergency to replace conventional power sources, often as a life saving measure.
Naturally, when crises arise – such as providing backup power to hospitals – its clients require a highly responsive team and MEMS has set the industry standard when it comes to delivering total power solutions from initial breakdown to being fully operational; typically within four hours.
Its current clients include several healthcare trusts, government organisations and some of the UK’s leading retailers.
The Challenge
Since June 2006 MEMS has seen tremendous growth due to ongoing investment in improving its operations and quality of service. One such step was to introduce a 24/7 manned response unit, providing customers with an expert adviser at any time of the day or night. To implement this important function, MEMS needed an IT service provider to link all the component parts of its system, enabling it to track the service data inside each generator and ensure that all transport, hardware and additional resources were available to meet orders within its typically tight timeframes.
Furthermore, as MEMS had grown, each of its departments had become more reliant on effective IT systems and the company needed a technology partner with the skills to perform this particular initiative, as well as enable further improvements.
Solutions Delivered
ISG technology took to the task of building and maintaining the software and supporting infrastructure, resulting in MEMS delivering a much more effi cient and effective service to its customers.
As well as this initial groundwork, the team supplied total support, from desktop to complete enterprise server solutions, including system design and implementation, to ensure that MEMS’ systems and procedures ran continuously. Its expert engineers also undertook Active Directory implementation, the appropriate steps to enhance security, a re-evaluation of its backup and storage strategies, and an upgrade of its network, exchange, hardware and software solutions.
ISG’s proactive support and guidance has encouraged MEMS to extend the deployment of IT across the company, including the provision of PDA devices to all of its engineers so they can obtain access to the system 24/7.
"It has been a pleasure to work alongside MEMS through this exciting growth period. We pride ourselves on providing practical and forward-thinking services and solutions and I'm pleased we've been a valuable support mechanism for MEMS."
