A Leading University Located in Greater Manchester
With four faculties, 12 schools, nearly 20,000 students and 2,500 staff, the
University has seen tremendous growth since it was first established in 1896. Today, it is driving forward with
an ambitious plan to transform all aspects of campus life, including the
provision of some of the most sizeable and state-of-the-art facilities
accessible at a UK university.
FLIR Systems
ISG technology has supported FLIR’s UK infrastructure since 2004. A critical part of this role is regularly reviewing FLIR’s back office systems to ensure its infrastructure is sufficient to support the company’s ongoing technology requirements. Following a Virtualisation Readiness Assessment (VRA) in 2008, ISG recommended virtualisation technology and FLIR has already seen a significant return on investment.
Edexcel
Leading examination award body, Edexcel, is heavily reliant on its large scale network being efficient and accurate at all times. Its existing disparate array of backup solutions was proving inadequate and it had become necessary to consolidate all components onto a single platform. ISG deployed a dedicated fleet of software engineers to work closely with the company's networking team to source, design and implement superior backup solutions.
Westminster Abbey
In early 2000, Westminster Abbey decided to update its communications infrastructure, installing a new server and supporting cabling network. As one of the UK’s most prominent tourist attractions, work on the new installation required meticulous project management skills. Furthermore, the infrastructure needed to not only meet the current communication needs of the Abbey, but also build in flexibility for any future moves, changes and additions.
The University of Reading
To improve communications across its estate, The University of Reading installed a new telephone system across the campus and halls of residence. Working with the chosen communications partner, Ericsson, ISG installed over 4,000 data outlets, 20,000 metres of copper multicore cable, 17,000 metres of fibre optic cable and 5,000 metres of trenchwork to the University's tight timescales.
Jim Beam
When Jim Beam required the installation of a new IT infrastructure across its numerous global locations, ISG technology was brought on board for the initial migration, as well as to provide ongoing IT support services. Our remit was to transfer operations to the new global IT platforms, rationalise software and introduce appropriate technical support arrangements. Today, we continue to provide high level day-to-day consultation and support, including the proactive monitoring of network availability and performance.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service
In its work to save lives and reduce risks, KFRS has pledged a committment to continuously innovate and improve. One way of achieving this goal is by using information and technology to help emergency crews receive critical data and rescue information much more quickly. Mobile data terminals were identified as the most appropriate technology to help realise this ambition and ISG technology was appointed to perform the deployment.
Petronas Twin Towers
Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers stand 88 storeys and 450 metres high. ISG technology was awarded this highly prestigious project, after being selected for our extensive experience of intelligent buildings and network infrastructure design and installation. Today the Petronas Towers remains one of our proudest achievements and is a remarkable physical example of the size and complexity of projects well within our expertise.
PRS For Music
PRS for Music ensures performers receive royalties owed. The organisation sought a technology partner with the capacity and expertise to provide a fully managed service for its vast IT infrastructure. ISG was first brought on board in 2000 and has achieved 99.9 per cent network availability ever since. On the back of ISG's track record PRS for Music has recently signed a three-year extension to retain our infrastructure, helpdesk and deskside support, server and storage, networking and break-fix services.
The Millennium Commission
The Millennium Commission was wound up by Parliament in 2001, however it still had a number of projects to complete. Because of the unique nature of the organisation, it required a cost-effective supplier that could work in close partnership with the Commission, providing a managed IT support solution that could readily adapt to the downsizing of the operation. ISG delivered all phases of the project on time and in budget and overall performance and user satisfaction levels increased considerably.
Trafford Borough Council
The Council had previously used several suppliers to manage its IT infrastructure needs but a general dissatisfaction with the fragmented services provided and spiraling costs led the Council to rethink its approach. ISG was able to demonstrate the flexibility required by the Borough's IT team and worked with the Council to agree a pricing structure to suit both parties from the offset.
University of Birmingham
The University decided to upgrade its voice and data network but with just 12 weeks in which to install 6,500 telephone terminals, the roll-out required detailed planning and skilled project management. Time constraints were further exaggerated by a clash with the World Disability Games which were being held in the city. ISG successfully completed the deployment within the specified window and crucially without significant impact on the University's secondary income activities.
MEMS Power Generation
MEMS has set the industry standard for the supply of backup power solutions - typically within four hours. In 2006 MEMS decided to introduce a 24/7 manned response and needed an IT services provider to link all the component parts of the system. ISG technology took to the task of building and maintaining the software and supporting infrastructure, resulting in MEMS delivering a much more efficient service to its customers.
